Survival Night Weekend Wilderness Fun


LocalGuy: Pranav Rawat Speaks English, Hindi   An avid mountaineer and an apple farmer. My recent endeavor was India’s epic frozen waterfall climb where I climbed the Shela waterfall (260 ft, WI4). Near Kaza town, Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. With over a decade spent in the mountains, independent exploration has been the focus of my mountaineering career. I am gradually foraying into alpinism and ice climbing, trying to push the boundaries of the sport in context of our country.   Join me to taste the real exposure of wilderness and learn to improvise shelter to reduce weight and cost. Program is all about making different type of light weight shelter with available materials and have to survive whole night in Nov cold. The program is more about have fun and adventure and test your limits and go beyond your imagination of sleeping outside in the wilderness. No food would be provided during the night and one has to survive whole night and experience the cold conditions. Basic support like Sleeping bag, mat would be provided and natural shelters can be used. Or participant can use other shelter making techniques to make there shelters from woods and other stuff. Day 1

– Early morning pickup at Shimla Bus stand.(5 am)
– Cab from Shimla to Giri-Ganga Campsite.(5:30-8:30 am) (charged extra)
– Breakfast at the campsite. (8:30-9 am)
– workshop on Shelter Making (9-11 am)
– Discussion on how light weight shelter on treks (11-12 noon)
– Discussion on Different type of shelters and there use according
to situations.(12-1 pm)
– Lunch with local Pahari food (1-1:30 pm)
– Talk about mountain-self sufficiency and importance of light
weight shelter (2-4 pm)
– Tea and snacks at 4 pm
– movement to the different survival area in teams
# survival food will be provided (every one has to cook it with the limited resources)

Day 2

– Return to camp for tea (7 am)
– Breakfast (7:30-8 am)
– feedback about the event (8-9 am)
– Cab from GIRI-GANGA camp to Shimla (charged extra)
